Traffic tips for the Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport grand opening week
April 19, 2018 (Edmonton, AB) – The Premium Outlet Collection Edmonton International Airport (EIA) will open for business on May 2 at 10:00 am, which will add traffic to the roads around EIA. To handle this additional traffic, EIA has worked with the surrounding municipalities, Alberta Transportation and the mall owners, Ivanhoé Cambridge and Simon, to construct additional roadways, traffic lights and related infrastructure. Typical peak shopping mall traffic also occurs at different times of the day than peak vehicle traffic to the airport.
During the first few days that the Premium Outlet Collection EIA will be open, there will be many people coming early to shop and many people finding their way around EIA for the first time. This will cause extra traffic volume from May 2 to May 6, similar to airport traffic during the holiday season.
Therefore, travellers should allow extra travel time to get to the airport.
The new traffic lanes from the QE2 Highway leading to the Premium Outlet Collection EIA are shown in the attached map (hotlink) in green. The lanes to get to the airport are shown in blue. Real time traffic updates are available at flyeia.com.
Public transit to the Premium Outlet Collection EIA will be provided by Edmonton Transit Service, Leduc Transit Service and EIA’s On Airport Transit.

- Airport Taxi Service, Co-op Taxi Line, Greater Edmonton Taxi Service, 24-7 Taxi Line and Air Limousine service work with EIA to transport travellers to and from their flight without delay.
